PhotoModeler

PhotoModeler is a professional tool for generating accurate measurements and real-world models. It helps you create high-quality, accurate 3D models and measurements from photographs using your own camera.

PhotoModeler is a software package for measuring and modeling real-world objects and scenes using photographs. Developed by Eos Systems Inc., it is a world leader in its category. The software is based on the science of photogrammetry, which means "measuring from photographs," and offers the powerful capabilities of photogrammetry in an easy-to-use Windows-based environment.

This application is used in a number of areas where real-world measurements and modeling are required. These include accident reconstruction, forensic science, film and game production, architectural modeling, scientific and engineering applications, manufacturing, archaeology, and research.

Main features

  • Easy to use and learn: Includes an advanced Windows user interface, wizards for easy project setup, extensive multimedia tutorials (over 4 hours of training!), printed user guide, and extensive online help.
  • 3D Viewer: View, measure, select objects, and interactively rotate 3D models created with full photo textures.
  • Export capacities: Export your model to Autodesk DXF (2D and 3D), 3D Studio 3DS, Wavefront OBJ, VRML (1&2), IGES, OpenNURBS/Rhino, StereoLithography STL, RAW, Maya Script, Max Script, FBX and Google KML. Land and KMZ.
  • Handling photographs: Work with any number of photos, add new ones at any time, and import many different image formats. Use extensive zoom tools to precisely identify subpixels, use Photo Rotate for easy viewing, and use image enhancement for greater visibility.
  • Camera support: Use images from digital, film, or video cameras. Automatic camera orientation determines the camera's position when the image was taken. Use different cameras in the same project.
  • Customizable interface: Control the layout and appearance of your PhotoModeler screen. Customizable elements include toolbars, shortcut keys, and colors for elements such as 3D objects, projections, and the 3D viewer.

The uses of photogrammetry in archaeology are varied, from artifact modeling to large excavation modeling and comet photography. It is also the ultimate research tool when carrying bulky equipment into the field is not an option. PhotoModeler is the most versatile tool available in a researcher's toolbox, capable of generating results as a standalone application or combining with data sets from other devices to control and align critical research projects.

It is successfully used wherever 3D models from photographs and measurements are required, especially when non-contact and highly accurate measurements are important. Photogrammetry software provides accurate options and 3D models for many forensic and accident reconstruction tasks. A very fast, accurate, and effective method.

Although the process seems relatively simple, performing it with hundreds of images and thousands of points is very difficult to achieve efficiently and with high accuracy. PhotoModeler's algorithms have been refined for over 20 years, and its main development goals are user-centered design, high accuracy, and efficiency.

System Requirements

  • PhotoModeler (Base, Scanner and Motion) 2010 and later versions are supported on the following operating systems:
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Windows XP (32-bit)
  • The software may run on other versions of Windows not listed above, but problems with video and interface drivers, etc. may be more common.
  • The minimum system requirements are Pentium 800 Mhz, 512 MB RAM, 200 MB hard disk space, CD-ROM drive (4X+), 1024×768 with 24-bit color and sound hardware for the video tutorials.
  • To create your own models, you need an image capture method, such as a digital camera, scanner, or video capture card.
